What is Letter, Word, Sentence and Predicate?



What are letters?
In English (A, B, C........... X, Y, Z) all are letters.
There are 26 English letters where 21 are consonant while 5 are vowels.

What is word? 
When two or more letters are joined, they become a word.
For examples:
Go, to, in, view, new, shoes, light, house, home, garden, school, city, country, inbox, indoor, out, come, please, language, bags, room, decoration, documents, computer, paragraph,  etc.
What is sentence?
A group of words which makes complete sense is called a sentence.
For examples:
1)      He laughed.
2)      They wept.
3)      She has not eaten something.
4)      He helps his parents.
5)      She sings well.
6)      He is not interest in tennis.
7)      Do you know how to ride a bike?
What is phrase?
A group of words without its subject and predicate and it conveys some sense is called phrase.
For examples:
1)      In the corner
2)      Of great value
3)      Through thick and thin
4)      In white dress
5)      Bed of roses
6)      A Rainy day
How many parts are there in a sentence?
There are two main parts in a sentence:
1)      Subject
2)      Predicate
1)      Subject:
The word, words or phrase about which something is said is called a subject.
For examples:
1)      Esha is a good girl.
2)      My father is a doctor.
3)      Her mother is a teacher.
4)      Reading books is a good habit.
5)      Aslam is a naughty boy.
6)      My friend’s father is a very nice man.
2)      Predicate:
It is a part of sentence which says something about the subject.
For examples:
1)      He helps his parents.
2)      She is a good mother.
3)      Salma is singing a song.
4)      Teacher is teaching the students.
5)      We played cricket.
6)      True friends are like rare diamonds.
7)      Nosheen is a actor.
