What is dictionary?



Dictionary is a book which is designed for listing and explaining the words of a language or words and topics of a specials subject such as religion, medicine, architecture etc. It is arranged in ABC order.
Uses of Dictionary
A dictionary  has many uses. A person consults dictionary to know the meaning of a word that comes across. The dictionary also tells the pronunciation of a word. It also tells the parts of speech of particular words. Since it is alphabetically arranged explains the words or gives equivalent words so it is easy to find a word that one wants. It also explains words by explaining its literal meaning and idiomatic meaning.
